Lucieʼs (The Kiwi) desire for personal growth is what drives her, and she loves a good challenge! Her life in entertainment began in Australia in efforts to overcome severe performance anxiety, so naturally, she became an actress in advertising and film. Her love for dance was sparked many moons ago by fire, which led her (after may burns) to a path professional fire dancing and she has toured the world teaching and performing in the fire arts community.
Lucie has always been fascinated with body systems and human movement, and is considered a body mechanics expert. She has dedicated herself to a life long career in
orthopedic bodywork, injury management and health & happiness coaching. Her current movement passion is Latin dance. Namely, Salsa on2, Chachacha, Bachata and Pachanga. This love affair began 7 years ago after landing in the Bay Area. With that endless desire to improve herself, be present, and defy physical odds, she immediately knew performance was where it was at, and threw herself into the lions den of the Bay Area dance scene.
Lucie feels blessed to have begun her dance career under the instruction/direction of one of the Bay Areaʼs top female teachers, miss Katie Maloney. She is also fortunate enough to have been trained by some of the best female teachers in the world, Karel Flores, Alien Ramirez, and Griselle Ponse. In those 7yrs Lucie has had the privilege to not only dance with companies such as Rica Salsa, Orile Obini, MamboNova, and now Afinkao, but has had the opportunity to teach children and adults alike. She was instrumental in developing the SF Dominican Music In Schools Dance program, was Co Director of MamboNova Dance Company for 2.5 years, and co Founder/Director of BachaNova Dance Company.
As a dancer, Lucie is considered a Natural Stylist and is known for not taking herself too seriously, and happily showing her fun factor! She currently teaches privates lessons in natural styling and efficient body mechanics for Salsa on2, Chachacha and Bachata. Everyday is a school day in Lucieʼs world, and her current commitment to self improvement has her studying jazz, cuban folkloric and cuban modern dance which she utterly loves!
“Dance is the catalyst for all my life experience, as I evolve as a dancer, however that might look, I evolve as a human being” – Lucie
