Diana Rios-Jasso was born and raised in East Los Angeles, California. As a kid she was exposed to salsa due her family’s passion for Latin music. However, Diana’s love for dancing did not grow until she turned fifteen, when her parents forced her to take Latin Ballroom classes as a way to keep her out of the streets. She initially started dancing with Enio Cordoba and Terryl Jones, directors of The Granada, one of the best salsa clubs in Los Angeles. A few months after taking classes Diana showed a special talent within dancing and Terryl Jones invited her to join Salsational Dance Company, Youth Team. Within her first years in Salsational Dance Company, she gained exposure to performing different forms of genres, ranging from: Salsa, Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, West-Coast Swing, and Jive. But Diana found a special interest in salsa dancing and decided to participate in local Amateur/Semi-Pro competitions with her dance partner at the time, Kevin Orellana. In 2003 she was invited to dance with Al Espinoza, becoming one of the founding members of Liquid Silver Productions. After moving to San Francisco to continue with her school, in 2006 she joined Mambo Romero Dance Company, Semi-Pro Team then joined Afinkao Dance Company in 2008. Currently Diana is finishing up her last year at San Francisco State University, majoring in Anthropology.
