David was born and raised in Paris, France. He spent most of his young life studying math and physics, which led him to move to the beautiful bayarea for grad school in 2001. He was introduced to salsa way too late in his life for his taste, dancing casually on1 at Alberto’s nightclub in Mountain View in the summer 2009. After participating to the amateur competition there, he got a taste for what performing salsa could be like and decided to put serious efforts into learning the dance. He was very fortunate to meet his future wife Alex then, who was instrumental in pushing and guiding him on the road to be a better dancer. Other than convincing Afinkao’s dance director JC Labio to take on David as a student on his team, she established a full dance curriculum for him to accelerate his progress, including regular ballet, afro-cuban and afro-haitian classes. As a result David had his first performance with Con Afinke in the spring of 2011. Loving the sensation to be on stage, he is currently trying to gain more performing experience and wants to keep pushing his dancing with the Afinkao family to do many more shows in the future.
