Jade Keyes has loved to dance for as long as she can remember. She began performing at the age of three– in her living room for anyone who would watch. Her first stage show was at the age of six, as a belly dancer in the play Arabian Nights. Growing up, she tried every style she could find—modern, jazz, ballet, samba, hip hop, West African, Capoeira and more. In high school she performed with both a modern and a street dance company. As an adult she performed, choreographed for, and traveled with a fire dance troupe. While living in Santa Cruz, California, she discovered salsa dancing, and fell in love. After dancing socially for a few years, she realized she wanted to pursue salsa, and moved to the Bay Area. She performed with Salsamania Dance Company for three years, at the same time earning her Bachelor’s degree in dance. Recently she joined Afinkao Dance Company. Outside of dancing, she is in graduate school for occupational therapy, works as a licensed massage therapist, and is raising a sweet pit bull.
